Elected to the Division 4 of the Water Replenishment District of Southern California in November of 2006, Director Calderon is now serving his fourth term.  

Director Calderon attended Heliotrope Elementary School, Nimitz Jr. High School, Bell High School, East Los Angeles and Cerritos College, Cal State Long Beach and completed his Teacher Credential coursework at the University of San Diego. 
  
A strong supporter of WRD’s Water Independence Now Program (WIN), Director Calderon believes that through sound stewardship and innovative measures the region can grow to be independent from imported water for basin recharge. 

Director Calderon works for the Los Angeles Unified School District, Division of Adult and Career Education and Teachers in Adult Schools and has been a vocal proponent of providing educational support services to young adults to enable them to pursue successful career paths.  

Director Calderon is also a member of the California Council for Adult Education and the Huntington Park/Bell Adult Leadership Advisory Board. 

Sergio Calderon, last elected to WRD on November of 2018, presently serves as the representative of the people living and/or working in Division 4.  

Having attended public schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District from elementary though high school, Director Calderon also attended Cal State Long Beach and completed his Designated Subject Teacher Credential Coursework at the University of San Diego 

A supporter of WRD’s Water Independence Now Program (WIN), a program which through a suite of innovative and bold measures (e.g. Advanced water treatment facilities, Stormwater capture rubber dams, Collaborative efforts with colleges in support of a future water work source, Water Conservation education/programs) has empowered our service area to, in practicality, be independent from imported water for groundwater basin recharge purposed.  

As a private citizen, Sergio Calderon works as a Teacher/Teacher Adviser for the Los Angeles Unified School District, Division of Adult and Career Education. He also works supporting Individuals with Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities in various capacities (e.g. Nurse, Administrator) while working with organizations such as Easter Seals of Southern California.
